About Bonokyempem
Bonokyempem is about the Bono people, their heritage, their communities, and their future. It is a platform that brings people together to remember where we came from, celebrate who we are, and discuss where we want to go. Bonokyempem is more than a festival. It brings together culture, traditional leadership, community, development, investment, education, skills, and security.
Our History
Bonokyempem has a history of bringing people together around Bono’s identity, culture and heritage. It created opportunities for people to meet, celebrate, connect and recognise the importance of Bono traditions and institutions. Its history is therefore part of the wider story of the Bono people. The origin of Bonokyempem came from a simple idea: bring the people together.
People could meet. Communities could connect. Culture could be celebrated. Traditional leadership could be recognised. A shared identity could be strengthened. But over time, Bonokyempem stopped. The reasons for its interruption are part of its history and should be properly remembered and documented. The purpose of looking back is not to remain in the past. It is to understand what happened, learn from the experience, and build a stronger future.
